Staying Safe On The Slopes
It doesn’t matter if you are skiing in France on vacation or on a weekend trip in Colorado. All skiing has basic safety rules. Here are some tips to stay safe on the slopes.
- Get the right equipment. This will alleviate accidents or injuries.
- Prepare for the weather. This will make sure you don’t get frostbite or that your extremities get too cold, which makes skiing harder.
- Wear a helmet. This will protect your head from any major injuries.
- Stay on the trails. Do not go off trail as it is dangerous.
- Respect other skiers. Skiers in front of you have the right of way.
- Always keep a look out. When skiing, you need to watch out above and below the slope to avoid accidents.
- Ski with a friend. That way you can watch out for each other.
- Get proper instruction. Skiing lessons can help you learn the right way to ski, which helps avoid accidents that cause injuries.
- Don’t sit in the middle of the slope. If you fall down, get up and move to the side or keep skiing. If you need to rest, move to the edge so you do not block the slope.
- Don’t travel to fast and stay in control.
- Don’t ski on slopes that above your skill level.
